Hi Steve,

I just wish to say how chuffed I am with the Tri-Spark Classic Twin that I fitted to my Commando about two months ago. Fitting was a doddle and the bike started first kick after fitting. Subsequently it has always starts first kick (whether hot or even after standing for three weeks) - idling is excellent as is the general performance. The anti-kickback feature works superbly which means kicking the bike (a 920 with 9.5:1 CR) is less "traumatic" than it used to be (it used to try to break my leg!!).

Hi Steve,

I have fitted your electronic ignition(Classic Twin) to my 1970 Norton Commando….most impressed. Previously I was using Boyer, now the bike is much easier to start and idles at a lower rpm flawlessly, also when riding in a high gear at low throttle openings the bike no longer lurches/hunts everytime the engine fires.

Hi Steve,
Just wanted you to know how impressed I am with the difference in the starting and running behaviour my T160 since replacing the previously fitted B....r ignition with the Tri-Spark.

In all the time I’ve owned my T160, I’ve probably spent more time working on it than riding it, especially in recent times when sparkplug fouling with unleaded fuel made the engine ridiculously hard to start. Now it’s a different story; starting is ultra reliable, idle is solid and I’m spending more time riding the machine than working on it and I’m spending money on fuel, not spark plugs.

With the Tri-Spark, the thing I’m so impressed with is the way the engine now starts FIRST time every time from stone cold, just like you’d expect a modern bike to, and it’ll do it (without chokes) on the electric starter!

This on its own would have been enough to justify fitting the Tri-Spark, but as a bonus, the system’s idle control is so strong that even straight after a cold start, the engine just doesn’t want to die. For the first time in the 12 years I’ve owned the bike, cold starting happens immediately rather than eventually and I don’t have to baby it to keep it alight.

High speed running is also very strong; in fact I believe I can even detect a more enthusiastic bark from the mufflers since your ignition has been fitted! The Tri-Spark should be called the Transplant as far as I’m concerned. It lives up to the expectations I had for it and then some. I’d happily recommend it as THE ignition of choice for the T160.
