  • Solid drive gear (no springs and weights)

Recommended for the best possible results:

  •  A 12-volt 4 Ahr or larger battery is required

You can set the timing statically using the built-in LED on the module - it simply requires that you accurately position the engine at the fully advanced crank position for the setup procedure.  

Offset Crank Option available. A modification is required to the trigger rotor for offset crank applications to reposition the magnets to suit your engine.  Please add the Offset Crank Rotor to your cart and specify the degrees and for what bike in the note section.

Pre-unit Triumph Twins (Thunderbird)

Note: All pre-unit Triumph Twins require a solid drive gear (not advancing and retarding) suitable for fitting on a tapered shaft as found on a K2F magneto.

Note: Triumph Speed Twin late 50s early 60s fitted with distributor and coil will need a suitable replacement magneto drive gear.

Classic Twin Ignition Specifications:

  • Nominal operating voltage: 12 volts (min 8V max 16V) positive or
  • negative earth (ground)
  • Power consumption including coils: 3A Max (typically 2A)
  • Power consumption at idle: under 1 Amp
  • Coil circuit resistance range: 3.0 to 5.0 Ohms (3.0 absolute minimum)
  • Dwell time: 8 mS nominal with peaks on acceleration and starting
  • Advance range: 12.5 degrees cam or 25 degrees at the crank
  • Fully Advanced: at 3500 RPM
  • Starting range: up to 500 RPM
  • Idle stabilisation range: 500 to 1200 RPM
  • Advancing timing range: 1200 to 3500 RPM
  • Operating temperature range: -20 to 100 degrees Celsius
  • Absolute maximum: 24 volts DC for 1 minute
  • Maximum load dump voltage spike: 180 Volts DC for 50mS
  • Air Gap (rotor to stator unit clearance): 2mm +/- 0.6mm
  • RPM range: 150 to 8000 RPM
