Classic Triple Ignition Worth Every Cent.
Hi Stephen,
I’ve received the Tri-Spark unit—thank you.
I’d like to say how much I appreciate the work you’ve put into developing these systems. I’ve been involved with BSA and Triumph triples since the early 1970s and have tried a number of electronic ignition systems over the years, but was never completely satisfied—particularly with idle and low-speed performance.
Last year, after fitting an electric start to my 1969 Trident, I struggled to get the engine to fire. It would turn over fine but just wouldn’t start. A friend eventually lent me an early Tri-Spark Triple unit, and the difference was immediate.
The bike settled into a remarkably smooth idle at around 400 rpm—almost like a sewing machine. I’ve since adjusted it to about 1000 rpm, but the smoothness and consistency are outstanding. It now starts easily, hot or cold, and runs far more smoothly across the range.
I had heard great things about Tri-Spark, but had put off purchasing one due to the higher price. Having now experienced the difference firsthand, I can confidently say it’s worth every cent.
This unit will be going on my ’69 Trident, and I’m hoping to secure the one I borrowed for my ’69 Rocket 3—otherwise I’ll be ordering another from you soon.
Many thanks again.
